Encaustic Photography

Introducing a true artistic approach to Aimee's photography!

Encaustic Photography is an ancient archival process of adding layers of a hot beeswax and damar resin mix first to a prepared surface, then over an image that has been transferred onto that wax surface. Each layer of wax is heated to fuse together with the layer underneath, creating one piece that will not ever peel apart. The result is a very soft, magical and visually captivating image. Finished Encaustic pieces are sized as 4"x 4", 6" x 6", or 8" x 8" and floated in hand stained wood frame mounts. All pieces are signed and ready to hang as a single or grouped display, or placed to stand as a single item on any surface. Large pieces and commissioned work will be available soon.

How to Care for your new Encaustic Photography

“If traveling with your art, do not leave it in your car on a warm sunny day. If packaging your art as a gift, wrap directly in paper, not in plastic or bubble wrap”

“Your new Encaustic Photography will withstand the heat in your home (up to 120 degrees farenheit), but it IS recommended to avoid prolonged periods of direct sunlight. Turn your art slightly away from a window if in a sunny spot”

“The wax will cure for the first year, and it is normal for a white haze to appear. It is a good idea to buff your art using a soft lint-free cloth or better yet- panty hose! Yes, panty hose wiped in circular movements will shine up the surface and remove any fingerprints. Just be sure the wax surface is dust free to avoid scratching. Only use lint free cloths/panty hose to dust or wipe your art”
